JEE Main 2022 Exam Pattern and Application Process

The application process for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main 2022) for admission to engineering courses has started. Students will be able to apply till 5 pm on March 31. This year the National Testing Agency (NTA) has made some important changes in the process and exam pattern of JEE Main 2022.


The April session exam will be held from April 16 to 21. Whereas in May, the examination of the second session will run from May 24 to 29. The exam for both the sessions will be conducted in morning and evening shifts. The first shift will run from 9 am to 12 noon and the second shift exam will run from 3 pm to 6 pm. Apart from Hindi, English, JEE examinations will also be held in Gujarati, Punjabi, Assamese, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu languages. Major changes in JEE Main 2022

  • The exam will be in hybrid mode.
  • This time all the questions have come under negative marking.
  • Four marks will be awarded for the correct answer and one mark will be deducted for the wrong answer.
  • Freedom to choose the examination center has been abolished.
  • Aadhaar information has to be filled in the application.
  • Family income required to be mentioned at the time of application.
  • Students have to fill separate online application forms for both the sessions.

No chance for correction

This time while filling the online application form, candidates must keep in mind that this year there will be no chance for correction in the application form by NTA. Hence, any kind of mistake in the application form must be avoided. NTA has made it clear that they will be debarred from the examination if there is any mistake in the application form.

Application fee to be paid

This year, the application fee for BE-BTech under JEE Main (JEE Main 2022) has been fixed at Rs 650 for General, OBC and EWS students and Rs 325 for SC-ST and all other categories and girl students. At the same time, for such students who want to apply for B.Arch along with BE-B.Tech, the examination fee for them is Rs 1,300 for General, OBC and EWS students and Rs 650 for SC-ST and all category girls.
