COMEDK - Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental all details

The Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK UGET) is a state-level admission test. The test is used to gain admission to engineering and architecture programmes at over 120 institutions and universities that recognise COMEDK grades. Candidates who pass the COMEDK test are eligible for admission to approximately 20000 BTech and BArch seats available. The COMEDK test attracts around 70,000 applicants each year.Please note that applicants interested in applying to COMEDK 2022 for admission to BArch programmes must first take the NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) and then engage in COMEDK counselling to determine seat allocation.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates who meet the following qualifying requirements are eligible to apply for COMEDK 2022:

·         The second PUC or Class 12 Higher Secondary or similar examination approved by the State / Central Government is required for admission to B.E. ; the last two years of study must include Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with English as a compulsory subject.

·         Applicants for the General Merit Scholarship must have received a minimum of 45 percent in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (40 percent for SC, ST, and OBC candidates from Karnataka State) and must have passed these courses separately. Physics and mathematics are required topics, with Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or any other technical vocational study serving as an optional subject.The AICTE's revisions to the eligibility requirements, if any, shall be implemented.

·         There are no lateral entry admissions, hence diploma candidates are not eligible to sit the Entrance Test.

The Karnataka government conducts the Kcet, and the Kcet fees for institutions are roughly $36,000. (It's been around 2 years; it may be the same today). Private college groups run ComedK, which can only admit students to private institutions on the ComedK list. Through comedK, other state students can have greater admission to private institutions. Other state students have more possibilities, and the restrictions are less strict than the Kcet.The fees for colleges in ComedK are approximately 1,50,000, which is a significant barrier. This is over four times the cost of the Kcet.
